Dear Parents and Students,
Teachers and students from Sweetwater High School will be traveling on an educational tour to Paris, Rome and Athens.
As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, it is critical for our students to become more culturally aware and globally-minded. To be able to experience the global classroom first-hand and see what they have been studying in their classrooms come alive, is life-changing and gives them new perspectives not only of themselves, but also the world around them.
This tour will introduce students to foreign culture—playing a critical role as they become more culturally aware and globally-minded. Students who participate will grow their social skills, make connections to their studies and take part in an experience that will set them apart when applying to college and their future careers. Students can also earn credit on tour, and are encouraged to partake in our online research project.
Spaces will be filled on a first come first served basis. The invitation to travel with us is also extended to you as parents. There is limited space on the trip. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] with any questions.
If there are spots left open, I will host an enrollment meeting in the fall. My room is number 203 located on the second floor of SHS. Perks of going on an international tour:
-Students surveyed said they are better at thinking critically and gained global awareness and have more confidence in their social skills as a result of their EF experience.
-Nearly every student surveyed has gone on to earn a BA or higher.
-About 80% maintain a college grade point average above 3.0; nearly half earn a GPA between 3.5 and 4.0.
-More than 80% report becoming better communicators and problem solvers as a result of their international experience.
-85% are more interested in studying abroad in college and about two-thirds were motivated to become more fluent in other languages.
-nearly 90% continued to study a foreign language in college, many choosing to learn a critical language - one for which more trained speakers are needed than are available.
BECOME A GLOBAL CITIZEN
Students return home inspired, confident and more connected to the world around them. But this isn’t the end of their journey—it’s the beginning. The memories, experiences and discoveries they make abroad will continue to shape their perspective, as well as their future.
